#7 The presence of God

O son of Kuntī, I am the taste of water, the light of the sun and the moon, the syllable oṁ in the Vedic mantras; I am the sound in ether and ability in man. Bhagavad-gītā 7.8

The narrator of the Bhagavad-gītā is aware that many people doubt the existence of God or consider Him unapproachable. But in fact, there is no need to go far or to fabricate serious theories. Kṛṣṇa says, "Just look around, I am in everything!" He is the taste of water. Of course, one should not think of Kṛṣṇa as salty or sweet, but of the most basic quality of water, its essence. The next time you drink water or anything else, remember that Kṛṣṇa is the taste of water, He is the one who quenches your thirst! The sunshine that warms your face is also Kṛṣṇa. Sunlight ripens the fruit, sunlight illuminates the space, so without sunlight there is no life. Kṛṣṇa is the heat of the fire and the fragrance of the earth. He is invisibly present in every aspect and moment of our life. When we understand this, our hearts are filled with gratitude and love. These feelings are the characteristics of bhakti-yoga.

Think of a very simple thing and try to find its innermost essence.
